Did Mitchel Musso just throw major shade at his former Disney overlords? The 34-year-old actor is spilling the piping hot tea about why he was noticeably MIA from Hannah Montana’s star-studded 20th anniversary special, and bestie, the reason is absolutely delicious.
During an appearance on the “Joe Vulpis Podcast” on Wednesday, June 24, Musso didn’t hold back when discussing his absence from the iconic Disney Channel celebration. “Of course they asked me [to be in it],” he casually dropped, before delivering the ultimate read: “But, it wasn’t presented correctly [to me].” Ouch! Translation? The offer apparently wasn’t good enough for our boy, and honestly, we’re living for the confidence.
For those who need a refresher, Mitchel served as the charming Oliver Oken on the show that made Miley Stewart a household name. He was literally THERE from the beginning, helping Miley navigate the trials and tribulations of being a secret pop star. You’d think the network would roll out the red carpet for him, but apparently the presentation of the opportunity left something to be desired. Was it the paycheck? The schedule? The lack of creative control? We’re dying to know the details, and frankly, so is everyone else on Twitter right now.
The drama surrounding the reunion special has been absolutely delicious. While other cast members like Emily Osment, Moises Arias, and even Miley Cyrus herself showed up and showed out, Mitchel’s empty seat became the elephant in the room that nobody could ignore. Fans immediately took to social media demanding answers, and now we finally have them—albeit vague ones that only make us want MORE.
What makes this even spicier is Mitchel’s seemingly unbothered attitude about the whole situation. He didn’t apologize, didn’t explain with excessive detail, and didn’t throw anyone under the bus explicitly. He simply stated facts and moved on with his life. That’s the energy of someone who knows their worth and isn’t afraid to demand respect. Period.
The age-old saying “if they wanted you, they would make it work” seems to apply here, and Mitchel Musso apparently decided he wasn’t about to compromise on his terms for a nostalgia trip down memory lane. Whether that was the right call depends on who you ask, but one thing’s for sure—this man is living rent-free in all of our heads right now.
What do you think? A) Mitchel was totally justified in turning down the special if it wasn’t presented properly B) He should have shown up regardless for the fans and his co-stars
