Did anyone have “former president writes 1,323-word diary entry about a late-night comedian” on their 2024 bingo card? Because we certainly didn’t.
Donald Trump took to Truth Social over the weekend to absolutely eviscerate Bill Maher, calling the “Real Time” host a “complete and total loser” with a “low rated show on equally low rated HBO.” The 1,323-word manifesto reads less like a press statement and more like a burned ex’s 3 AM text thread. Trump claimed HBO was once “a network of quality and excitement” but “that’s all gone” — which is rich coming from the guy who had a reality show on NBC.
The former president didn’t stop at ratings. He mocked Maher’s “very boring” stand-up, his “terrible” books, and even took a swing at his club randoms: “He plays to half-empty rooms.” Ouch. The specificity is giving obsessed. Maher, for his part, has spent years roasting Trump on HBO — calling him a “dictator wannabe” and “malignant narcissist” just last month. So this clapback was inevitable, but the word count? Unhinged behavior.
Social media is feral. “Sir, you’re running for president, not writing Yelp reviews,” tweeted one user. Another: “1,300 words about a guy who makes jokes? The insecurity is jumping out.” Team Maher fans are cackling that Trump just gave him the best promo money can’t buy. HBO didn’t comment, but “Real Time” ratings actually ticked up last season. Awkward.
What do you think? A) Trump’s rent-free in Maher’s head B) Maher’s rent-free in Trump’s head
