Is Scott Speedman finally escaping the Seattle Grace curse? The Grey’s Anatomy hunk just traded scrubs for a trench coat, darling, and we’re absolutely here for the glow-up!
ABC just dropped the cast list for RJ Decker — the shiny new series based on Carl Hiaasen’s deliciously twisted novel Double Whammy — and our favorite former Dr. Nick Marsh is front and center. Speedman plays the titular RJ Decker, a disgraced newspaper photographer turned ex-con turned private investigator. So basically, he’s gone from saving lives in the OR to solving crimes in the Florida swamps. The career pivot we didn’t know we needed!
The show follows Decker as he “starts over as a private investigator” in what sounds like the most Florida premise ever: bass fishing tournaments, corruption, and probably at least one alligator cameo. Hiaasen’s novels are famously weird, wild, and wickedly funny — think Carl Hiaasen meets Justified with a dash of Ozark. And Speedman? He’s got that brooding, seen-it-all energy that screams “I’ve made questionable choices but I look amazing doing it.”
Fans are already spiraling on X. “Scott Speedman as a gritty PI in a Hiaasen adaptation? My wallet is open,” tweeted one stan. Another wrote: “From Grey’s to the Everglades? The range! The versatility!” Meanwhile, Speedman’s been notably quiet on Instagram — just a single moody black-and-white headshot with the caption “New chapter.” Cryptic much?
What do you think? A) Speedman’s finally getting the leading man vehicle he deserves B) He should’ve stayed on Grey’s and fought for Meredith’s heart
