Is it really that hard for radio hosts to keep the same energy for EVERYONE? Because Claressa Shields is asking that question and honestly, we’re living for it!
The undefeated boxing legend absolutely went there during a recent appearance on Streetz 94.5 FM with Mz. Shyneka Richardson, and sis was NOT having the double standard energy. When the radio host had the audacity to ask Claressa about dating “somebody’s husband,” the champ immediately corrected her and basically said, “Hold up, hold UP!” Shields made it crystal clear that if we’re gonna throw shade, it needs to be thrown EQUALLY at everyone involved—including calling out Remy Ma for her role in the situation with Papoose. Because let’s be real, it takes TWO to tango, hunty.
But here’s where it gets JUICY. Eva Marcille, the Real Housewives of Atlanta icon herself, came RUSHING to Mz. Shyneka’s defense faster than you can say “reunion special.” Eva posted up in the comments section ready to ride or die for the radio host, which honestly? Kind of a mood. These girls are out here checking each other, and we are absolutely HERE for the dramatic energy we didn’t know we needed.
The whole situation is giving main character energy mixed with a healthy dose of “not today, Satan.” Claressa’s point is valid though—why is it that women always get asked about their romantic choices in a way that makes them look like the villain, while the men involved get a free pass? The double standard is REAL, and frankly, Shields deserves all the applause for calling it out on live radio with ZERO filter.
Fans are absolutely divided on this whole situation. Some are riding with Claressa for holding people accountable across the board, while others think everyone should just move on and let sleeping dogs lie. But honestly? When a world-class athlete is willing to set the record straight on air, you KNOW she’s got a point worth making.
The Papoose situation has been drama central for a minute now, and Claressa just reminded everyone that accountability should never have a gender requirement. Period. Eva’s support just adds another layer of “the girls are rallying” that we’re absolutely obsessed with.
What do you think? A) Claressa was RIGHT to call out the double standard! B) Everyone should just move past the drama already!
