So, is George Clooney’s picture-perfect French fairy tale about to go up in smoke? Because honey, the Hollywood heartthrob and his human rights lawyer wife just got a major reality check when they were forced to abandon their absolutely gorgeous French home thanks to raging wildfires. Talk about going from mansion goals to evacuation ASAP!
Just last year, George was out here bragging about how “very lucky” he felt raising their adorable 9-year-old twins in the French countryside. He was literally living his best life, sipping wine in Provence, playing the doting dad in Europe’s most romantic setting. But mother nature said “not so fast, George!” When wildfires started threatening the region, the Clooneys had to pack their designer luggage and get OUT. Tragic, really.
The couple’s sprawling French estate has been their sanctuary since the twins were born. Amal has been juggling her high-powered human rights career while George perfected his “retired actor who still looks like a snack” aesthetic. They’ve been living their best European fantasy with the kids, away from the Hollywood spotlight. Or so they thought.
Sources say the evacuation was precautionary but necessary, as flames dangerously approached the area. While we’re obviously relieved the family is safe and sound (because what would we do without George’s perfectly sculpted jawline?), it does raise some seriously uncomfortable questions about climate change and whether even A-list celebs can escape Mother Nature’s wrath. Spoiler alert: they can’t.
Fans on social media have been absolutely losing it, expressing their concerns for the family while also low-key being mad that their favorite couple had to abandon their dream home, even temporarily. “Not George and Amal!” they’re tweeting. “Anyone but them!” It’s giving end-of-days energy, and honestly, we’re not recovering from the drama.
The Clooneys are reportedly safe at an undisclosed location, probably somewhere equally fabulous because, well, they’re the Clooneys. But this whole situation is definitely a wake-up call that even the rich and famous aren’t immune to environmental disasters. Yikes on bikes.
