Did we really think we could get through a single event without some absolutely unhinged commentary? Darling, buckle up because the tea is SCALDING hot right now.

So apparently Donald Trump decided the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was the perfect venue to unleash what can only be described as a deeply offensive “joke” about none other than Queen Nicki Minaj. And honey, when we say offensive, we mean the kind that makes your jaw DROP to the floor. The former president thought it would be absolutely HILARIOUS to crack a joke involving Nicki and, you guessed it, twerking. Because apparently we’re still stuck in 2015 when lazy stereotypes were considered comedy gold. The “MAGA Maliciousness” was REAL, and frankly, we’re not shocked but we ARE thoroughly disgusted.

The joke didn’t just miss the mark—it completely obliterated it. Social media absolutely ERUPTED with fury, and rightfully so. Critics were quick to point out that the “joke” relied entirely on harmful racist stereotypes and sexist tropes about Black women. It’s giving “I have no actual material so I’ll just lean on racism,” and we are NOT here for it. The backlash has been absolutely relentless, with countless celebrities, activists, and everyday people calling out the inexcusable nature of the comment.

What’s particularly infuriating is that this type of “humor” perpetuates damaging narratives that reduce talented Black women to crude caricatures. Nicki Minaj, a Grammy-nominated artist and cultural powerhouse, deserves better than being the punchline to someone’s racist “comedy” routine. The audacity! The NERVE!

Fans and celebrities have been taking to Twitter, Instagram, and every platform imaginable to express their outrage. Many are questioning whether this kind of blatant disrespect will ever have actual consequences, or if we’re just destined to rinse and repeat this cycle forever. The discourse has been FIERCE, and honestly, we’re here for accountability being demanded.

This incident serves as yet another reminder that racism and sexism are alive and thriving in spaces we thought were supposed to be better. The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is meant to be a celebration of press freedom and witty repartee, not a platform for racist drivel disguised as humor.

What do you think? A) Trump’s joke was completely unacceptable and he should face real consequences B) It was just a joke and everyone is overreacting
