Is John Fogerty having a senior moment, or is this the most hilarious casting suggestion we’ve heard all year?
The Creedence Clearwater Revival legend just dropped the most bewildering bomb at the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony, and darling, we are LIVING for the chaos. When asked who he’d want to play him in his upcoming biopic—because yes, Hollywood is finally giving this icon his due—the 81-year-old rocker casually suggested “that Bob Dylan guy.” Yes, you read that correctly. THE Bob Dylan. As in, the completely different legendary musician who has absolutely zero resemblance to John Fogerty and is currently 83 years old himself.
Look, we’re not saying John needs to start checking his meds, but when you’re suggesting someone from an entirely different generation and musical era to play you in your own life story, the internet is going to have THOUGHTS, honey. This is peak rock star energy—the kind of confidence that says “I don’t care about logic, I’m just going to say whatever pops into my head.”
The exclusive chat with Us Weekly gave us all the confused entertainment we needed this week. Is Johnny being cheeky? Is he actually serious? Does he realize Dylan is also, you know, busy with his own legendary legacy? The questions are endless, and frankly, we’re obsessed with the mystery of it all.
Fashion icon? Musical genius? Occasionally delusional casting director? John Fogerty is serving ALL the looks today, and we are here for every second of it. While we’re sure the actual filmmakers will go with someone slightly more age-appropriate and, shall we say, more visually aligned with the legend himself, we absolutely appreciate the audacity of this suggestion.
The biopic itself sounds genuinely amazing though, and we cannot WAIT to see how they eventually cast this role. Whether it’s a younger heartthrob who can capture that Fogerty essence or someone unexpected, one thing’s for sure—the behind-the-scenes stories from this production are going to be absolutely legendary.
What do you think? A) John should stick to music and let casting directors do their job B) This Dylan casting choice is absolutely genius and we’re here for it
