Is late-night comedy crossing the line from funny to downright cruel? Meghan McCain certainly thinks so, and she’s not holding back one bit!

The View co-host went absolutely OFF on Jimmy Kimmel this week after the late-night host had the audacity to mock Spencer Pratt’s unsuccessful Los Angeles mayoral campaign. And honey, when Meghan McCain comes for you on social media, you KNOW it’s serious. “Jimmy Kimmel is a mean, heartless b*****d and no amount of on air crying will convince me or anyone else otherwise,” she fired off via X on Wednesday, June 10, in all caps energy (well, practically). She continued her scathing takedown by saying “The day he is off air will be a great day.” Wow. She really said what she said!

Listen, we all know Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag have had their fair share of controversies over the years—let’s be real, The Hills gave us LIFE back in the day. But attempting to run for mayor? That takes guts. Whether you think it was a brilliant move or absolutely bonkers, mocking someone for taking a shot at public service seems a little harsh, even for late-night TV standards.

Meghan’s not wrong though—she’s basically echoing what a lot of people have been thinking. Late-night hosts have become increasingly savage, and sometimes the line between witty banter and actual mean-spirited bullying gets dangerously blurry. The fact that Meghan felt compelled to publicly call out Kimmel suggests this wasn’t just a silly joke that landed wrong—it was genuinely hurtful.

The internet immediately split down the middle on this one. Some fans applauded Meghan for standing up for Spencer, with one follower tweeting: “Finally someone said it! Kimmel thinks he’s untouchable.” Others pushed back, arguing that political candidates open themselves up to criticism. But honestly? There’s a difference between political criticism and personal mockery.

This whole situation really makes you wonder about the current state of celebrity culture, doesn’t it? When did we become so comfortable with public figures absolutely roasting each other? And more importantly, when did Spencer Pratt become the underdog that Meghan McCain is defending? What a time to be alive!

What do you think? A) Meghan is absolutely right—Jimmy Kimmel needs to check himself B) It’s just comedy, people are too sensitive these days
