Did HBO really just kill off Euphoria’s main character AND cancel the entire series in one fell swoop? Because yes, honey, that’s exactly what happened, and we are LIVING for the chaos.

Last night’s season 3 finale of Euphoria was basically a masterclass in emotional devastation wrapped up with a pretty little bow of permanent cancellation. The show that kept us glued to our screens for years just said “peace out” and took Rue Bennett with it. That’s right — Zendaya’s iconic addict character doesn’t get a redemption arc, doesn’t get to ride off into the sunset, and doesn’t get a spin-off. She gets a coffin, darling.

The tea? After narrowly escaping Laurie’s absolutely terrifying drug operation, Rue finds herself in yet another impossible situation that ultimately seals her fate. And just like that, our favorite hot mess express comes to a complete and utter stop. The creative team said “we’re ending this thing on OUR terms,” and honestly? The audacity. The NERVE. We’re simultaneously horrified and impressed.

But wait, there’s more! HBO didn’t just kill off the protagonist — they straight-up murdered the entire franchise. No season 4. No spin-offs. No reunion specials where the cast cries and reflects on their journey. The network basically said “we’re taking our ball and going home,” and frankly, we’re not sure if we should be mad or respectful of the power move.

Fans are absolutely UNRAVELING on social media right now. Twitter is a war zone. TikTok is a mourning chamber. Instagram comments are absolutely unhinged. Some people are calling it “artistic” and “brave.” Others are calling it “traumatic” and “a betrayal.” One thing’s for certain — nobody saw this coming, and EVERYONE has opinions.

Zendaya, the absolute queen, carried this show on her back for three entire seasons, delivering performances that made us ugly cry into our pillows. And this is how they repay her? By literally ending her character? The disrespect wrapped in “it’s what the story needed” is SENDING us.

Look, we’re not mad — we’re just disappointed. Actually, scratch that. We’re mad AND disappointed AND we’ll probably be rewatching that finale seventeen times anyway because we’re masochists.

What do you think? A) The finale was a bold artistic choice that needed to happen B) HBO absolutely robbed us and should make season 4 happen immediately
