Is Oprah desperately trying to stay relevant by shilling skincare at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? Girl, we need to talk.

The media mogul just dropped her so-called ‘favorites’ from the annual shopping extravaganza, and honey, we’re getting major energy of someone trying waaaaay too hard to prove she still knows what’s trendy. From Spanx shapewear to Sunday Riley serums, O is apparently convinced we’re all sitting around waiting for her blessing before we swipe our credit cards. News flash: we’ve been using these products since 2019.

Let’s be real though—some of her picks are genuinely giving ‘I actually have taste.’ The Béis travel collection? Iconic. We’re obsessed. But then she goes and recommends ‘fantastic skin care’ like we haven’t heard of a face wash before. The condescension is THICK, darling. Does Oprah think her followers need her to hold their hands through the cosmetics aisle? Because that’s the energy we’re getting.

What really gets us is the ‘perfect pants’ endorsement. Perfect pants? PERFECT PANTS? In 2024? Ma’am, we have YouTube, TikTok, and approximately 47 fashion bloggers telling us what to wear every single day. Your seal of approval doesn’t move the needle like it used to, and we can all feel it. The desperation is palpable, like watching a legendary actress do a commercial for hemorrhoid cream.

The fashion community is absolutely DIVIDED on this one. Some stans are thrilled that O is ‘relatable’ and ‘still in touch with what we’re buying.’ Others are rolling their eyes so hard they can see their brains. One Twitter user wrote, ‘Just because Oprah likes it doesn’t mean I need to like it,’ and honestly? That person gets it.

Here’s the tea: Just because you’re a billionaire with impeccable taste doesn’t mean you need to monetize every single opinion you have. Sometimes less is more, O. Sometimes letting us discover our own ‘fantastic’ products is way more empowering than your curated list.

But will we still buy everything on her list anyway? Absolutely. Because we’re weak, and Oprah’s approval still hits different. The woman could recommend cat litter and we’d probably order three bags.

What do you think? A) Oprah’s picks are always gold, shut up and buy it! B) She’s lost her touch and we don’t need her approval anymore!
